Exterior repairs

Exterior Home Repairs in Northwest Arkansas

Deck boards, fence gates, gutters, siding, and fascia take the weather so the rest of the house does not have to. When the outside starts showing it, one fully insured local company can work the whole list.

One service, whole exterior

Exterior problems rarely travel alone

The gate sags. Two deck boards have gone soft. The gutters spill over at one corner every hard rain, and a strip of trim has pulled loose above the garage. Calling a separate company for each of those makes no sense, which is why Mr. Fixit of NWA treats exterior repair as one service instead of five.

Owner Matt Houle comes out of construction and property management, where keeping building exteriors sound is the everyday job. That background, backed by 15+ years of hands-on experience, is what shows up at your deck, your fence line, and your roofline trim.

Outdoor wood

Decks, fences, and gates

Wood outside is always moving. Boards cup and split, fasteners back out, gate hinges rack out of square, and posts rot at the ground line. We repair decks board by board, rebuild sagging gates, replace cedar posts, and get railings solid again.

Repair comes first. Replacement gets recommended only when the structure underneath has actually failed, and we show you what we found before that conversation happens.

The trim package

Siding, fascia, shutters, and exterior trim

The trim on a house does more than look finished. Fascia backs the gutters, corner boards shed water away from the sheathing, and shutters take direct sun year after year. We repair and replace damaged siding sections, rotted fascia, worn shutters, and failing exterior trim, matching what is on the house as closely as the material allows.

Catching a soft fascia board early is the difference between replacing one board and repairing a roofline.

Water management

Gutters and pressure washing

Clogged gutters overflow, and overflowing gutters soak fascia, siding, and the ground right at the foundation. We clean gutters, install gutter screens to slow the clogging down, and pressure wash siding, concrete, and decks with settings matched to each surface.

Pressure washing is one of those jobs where the machine is easy to rent and just as easy to do damage with. Soft wood, old mortar, and painted surfaces each want different pressure, nozzles, and distance, which is exactly why homeowners hand this one off.

Why it keeps happening

What the weather here does to a house

Northwest Arkansas hands a house a little of everything. Summer sun dries out deck boards and caulk lines. Spring storms drop limbs and drive rain sideways into every gap they can find. Humidity keeps wood damp enough to rot wherever drainage is poor, and winter freeze-thaw cycles widen each crack they reach.

None of that is a crisis on its own. It simply means the exterior needs attention on a rhythm, not once a decade, and small repairs made on time are what keep the big ones off the calendar.

The process

How exterior repairs get scheduled

  1. Walk us through the problemA short call or a few photos of the deck, gutter line, or siding usually tells us what we need to know.
  2. Scope and materialsWe agree on what gets repaired, what gets replaced, and which materials match the house.
  3. The repair visitThe work gets done in as few trips as the project allows, with the site left clean.
  4. Look it over with usYou see the finished repair and hear about anything else we noticed along the way.

Good to know

Exterior repair questions

Yes, and that is the most common version of deck repair we do. Rotted or split boards, loose railings, and soft spots can usually be repaired individually. If the framing underneath has failed, we show you what we found and talk through options before going further.

Both. We clean gutters, and we install gutter screens for homeowners who want to cut down on how often the cleaning has to happen.

Loose, cracked, or damaged siding sections, failing exterior trim, and rot at fascia boards and corners. We repair the affected areas rather than reside the whole house. If the damage is widespread enough to need full replacement, we say so honestly.

It is when the pressure, nozzle, and distance match the surface. Wood decks, vinyl siding, and masonry each get treated differently. Aggressive washing on soft wood does real damage, which is exactly why this job is worth handing off.

Fascia is the board that runs along the roofline behind the gutters. When gutters clog and overflow, that board stays wet, and wet wood eventually rots. We replace damaged fascia and can pair the repair with gutter cleaning or gutter screens so the new wood lasts.
